Privacy Policy

1. Overview

TradeCalibrate is operated by the team behind TradeCalibrate (“Operator”, “we”, “us”), based in Australia. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose, and protect your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using TradeCalibrate, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy. This policy should be read alongside our Terms of Service and Risk Disclaimer.

2. What We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account Data

  • Username (required) — your chosen display name.
  • Email address (optional) — provided voluntarily for password recovery only.
  • Password — stored only as a bcrypt hash (cost factor 12). We cannot read your password.

Gameplay & Behavioural Data

  • Trade decisions: action (long/short/none), position size, leverage, confidence level.
  • Emotion data: emotion quadrant selection, energy level, valence (mood) level.
  • Timing data: total decision time, emotion phase time, trade phase time.
  • Interaction data: number of action changes, size changes, leverage changes, emotion grid clicks.
  • Post-decision reflection: “would repeat” responses, post-outcome feeling scores.
  • Scenario data: which scenarios were presented, perceived timeframe labels, retest information.

Computed Analytical Data

  • All metrics derived from gameplay: decision quality scores, win rates, Trading IQ, trader archetypes, fused behavioural composites (e.g., fusedTilt, fusedCalibration, fusedOverconfidence), cognitive bias scores, consistency metrics, and all other analytical outputs.
  • These are computed from your gameplay data — they are not psychological assessments or diagnoses.

Technical Data

  • IP address: used temporarily for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Not stored persistently in our database.
  • Browser/device type: collected via standard HTTP headers for compatibility purposes.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect real financial data, brokerage accounts, bank details, or actual trading history.
  • We do not collect credit card or payment information (the service is completely free).
  • We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or analytics tools that track you across websites.
  • We do not collect sensitive information as defined under the Privacy Act (e.g., health information, racial/ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation).

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • Providing the service: Computing your metrics, scores, archetypes, and simulation experience.
  • Public leaderboards: Your username and aggregate scores (such as decision quality score and win rate) are displayed publicly on leaderboards.
  • Platform improvement: Anonymised and aggregated gameplay data is used to improve algorithms, calibrate scoring systems, and enhance the simulation.
  • Research and statistics: Anonymised aggregate data may be used for research into decision-making patterns, published in aggregate form only (no individual identification).
  • Security and abuse prevention: Rate limiting and detection of automated abuse.
  • Communication: If you provide an email, it may be used for password recovery and critical service notices only. We will not send marketing emails.

5. Anonymised Data Use

As detailed in our Terms of Service (Section 8), you grant us a licence to use your anonymised and de-identified gameplay data. Anonymised data is data that has been processed so that it cannot reasonably be used to identify you. Specifically:

  • Usernames and any personal identifiers are removed before any external use.
  • Anonymised data may be used for algorithm improvement, aggregate statistics, and research.
  • We will never sell your identifiable personal information to any third party.

6. Disclosure of Information

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties except:

  • As required by law: If required by an Australian court order, subpoena, or lawful request from a government authority.
  • Infrastructure providers: Your data is stored on Supabase (PostgreSQL, AWS infrastructure, Sydney region) and served via Vercel. These providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy policies and security standards.
  • In anonymised/aggregated form: Non-identifying aggregate statistics may be shared publicly (e.g., “average Trading IQ across all users”).

7. Data Storage & Security

  • Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Supabase (AWS infrastructure, Sydney region, Australia).
  • Passwords are hashed with bcrypt (cost factor 12) — we cannot read or recover your password.
  • Sessions use HTTP-only secure cookies with signed JWT tokens.
  • All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit.
  • While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, particularly as this is an experimental beta service.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

  • Your gameplay data is retained as long as your account exists.
  • You may request full account deletion at any time by emailing support@tradecalibrate.com.
  • Upon deletion request, all your personal data, gameplay attempts, metrics, flags, and account information will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
  • Previously anonymised and aggregated data (from which you cannot be identified) may be retained after account deletion.

9. Public Information

  • Your username, trader archetype, decision quality score, and leaderboard rank are publicly visible on the Platform.
  • Your individual trade decisions, emotion data, detailed metrics, and personal details are private to your account.
  • Platform administrators may access your data for moderation and abuse prevention purposes.

10. Guest Mode

Guest users can play a limited number of rounds without creating an account. Guest data is stored only in your browser’s local storage and is never transmitted to our servers. No personal data is collected from guest users.

11. Cross-Border Data Transfers

While our primary database is in the Sydney, Australia region, our hosting provider (Vercel) may process requests through servers in other locations. By using TradeCalibrate, you consent to the transfer of your data to servers outside Australia where necessary for the operation of the service. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle your data consistently with the APPs.

12. Your Rights Under the Privacy Act

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate, incomplete, or out-of-date personal information.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated personal data.
  • Complaint: Lodge a complaint about our handling of your personal information (see Section 14 below).

To exercise any of these rights, email support@tradecalibrate.com. We will respond within 30 days.

13. Children

TradeCalibrate is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will delete their account and data promptly.

14. Complaints

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, you may lodge a complaint by emailing support@tradecalibrate.com. We will investigate and respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We may notify users via the Platform interface for material changes.
